Hills Prescription Diet Feline C/D for the Nutritional Management of Pets with Struvite Related Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) FLUTD is a condition often associated with the formation of crystals in the urinary tract that can cause numerous painful symptoms for your cat. The two most common types of crystals that form in the cat`s urinary tract: struvite and oxalate. Prescription Diet* Feline c/d-s has been formulated to provide nutritional management of cats with struvite-related FLUTD. Struvite crystals are usually formed in response to urine that is saturated with magnesium, ammonium and phosphorus combined with an alkaline urinary pH.
Hills Prescription Diet Feline C/D indication: Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) - Struvite crystals and uroliths, prevention of occurrence or recurrence - Idiopathic FLUTD in adult cats (use Feline c/d canned) Hills Prescription Diet Feline C/D is not recommended for: - Kittens. - Pregnant or lactating queens. - Cats concurrently receiving urinary acidifiers. - Cats with non-struvite urolithiasis or crystalluria. Hills Prescription Diet Feline C/D additional information Monitor the urine, to ensure the target urinary pH is maintained, and if necessary eliminate urinary tract infection. Other products to consider - To dissolve struvite uroliths: Prescription Diet Feline s/d. (Hills Prescription Diet Feline C/D is for long term management after the dissolution or removal of struvite uroliths.) - For obesity-prone cats: Hills Prescription Diet Feline w/d has similar characteristics to Feline c/d in a low calorie formula. - For FLUTD due to calcium oxalate uroliths: Hills Prescription Diet Feline x/d. - For FLUTD due to urate or cystine uroliths: Hills Prescription Diet Feline k/d. - For idiopathic FLUTD in senior cats or Persian cats: Hills Prescription Diet Feline x/d. |
