Natural appeasing pheromones are released by the mother support bonding and confort and reassure her puppies. This ‘support’ gives puppies enough confidence to explore and learn about the world around them. Settling into a new home can be a daunting process for a puppy and it is usually the first time the puppy has spent time alone. Many puppies cry for the first few nights. Installing an Adaptil Diffuser or fitting an Adaptil Collar can help you and your puppy cope better with the change.

Puppies from 6-16 weeks of age are at their most sensitive and their perception of the world can be easily influenced by experience had at this time. It is therefore important that these experiences are positive. If a puppy becomes scared or distressed by them it may develop, anxiety-related behaviour disorders in later life (noise phobias, separation anxiety, fear aggression, etc). Warning: Remove the collar before bathing or shampooing your dog and replace it after the dog's coat is dry. Collar will not release pheromone when wet. Do not use collar on dogs with extensive skin lesions.
