Uses
Griseofulvin is an antifungal antibiotic which is effective in the treatment of ringworm when given orally to horses. It is active against the dermatophytes causing ringworm, including Trichophyton verrucosum, T. mentagrophytes, T. rubrum, T. equinum, Microsporum gypseum and M. canis.
After absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, griseofulvin is incorporated into newly-formed keratin of the skin and hair allowing it to resist fungal attack.
