Product details

Bakers Complete in beef and country vegetables is an everyday dog food with all the nutrition adult dogs need.
What it's for
You can feed Bakers Complete in beef and country vegetables flavour to your dog every day. It's best to feed them twice a day if possible, but check the guidelines on the back of the pack to make sure you're not overfeeding them. If you give them too much to eat, they'll probably be delighted. Unfortunately, this also comes with the risk that they could become overweight and develop health issues such as diabetes and osteoarthritis. Keep that in mind when they flash the puppydog eyes at you.
If you notice your dog putting on weight, speak to your vet. They might need to eat less if they're older or have recently had the snip, and your vet can give you some advice on special dog foods designed for weight loss.
Key benefits

  • contains vitamin D to boost bone and joint health
  • contains high-quality meat chunks for extra protein and a rich flavour
  • fortified with iron for healthy blood
  • wholegrain carbohydrates help digestion and keep stomachs feeling full for longer
  • added iron for healthy blood

How it works
This dog food isn't just richly flavoured, it's also packed full of nutrients. The high-quality meat chunks add plenty of tasty protein, which helps to build up lean muscle mass and boost your dog's metabolism (the rate at which they burn through calories), reducing the chances of weight gain. The mix also contains healthy wholegrain carbohydrates, which are gentle on tummies and help your dog to feel full after every meal. Natural chicory root also helps digestion, so your pet can get the most from every morsel. Like all Bakers Complete foods, this recipe has been fortified with vitamin D to strengthen teeth and bones and iron to support blood health.

These amounts are averages based on moderately active dogs at normal environmental temperatures. Individual needs vary and feeding should be adjusted as required to maintain your dog at a lean, healthy body weight.

Fresh, clean drinking water should always be available.

Feeding The Correct Amount

It is important to remember however that these figures are guidelines only, and there are several factors to be taken into account when assessing your pet's nutritional requirements : -

  1. Activity level
  2. Temperament (stressed animals burn off more calories than relaxed ones)
  3. Metabolism (every animal is an individual with his or her own speed of metabolism; this means that 2 dogs of the same age, breed and weight could have different daily calorie requirements)

In order to provide the correct portions when feeding your dog or cat, it is also helpful to assess your pet's appetite, visual appearance and stools. Whilst poo watching does not sound particularly pleasant, it is one of the best indicators of health. Increased frequency of passing faeces, production of large quantities of stools of loose motions are often frequent signs that an animal is receiving more food than he or she requires.

It is important to obtain an accurate weight for your cat or dog, and also to weigh out the food. Guessing on both accounts gives a large margin of error.
