Hill's Prescription Diet Kidney Care k/d Adult Dry Dog Food - Original
Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d is designed to help dogs with kidney disease get all the nourishment they need.
How it works
Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d has been shown to help kidney function and slow down the progress of kidney disease, giving your dog a happy life. The small amount of high-quality protein helps your dog to stay strong and healthy without putting any strain on the kidneys. It's low in sodium, too, so even less work for the kidneys. The recipe is packed with antioxidants. These fight free radicals – the molecules in your dog's system that can attack healthy cells and increase the speed of the disease.
This food is designed to replace your pet's regular meals for the rest of their life. Veterinary diets like this one have been specially made to support pets with specific medical conditions. Because of this, they might not be suitable for all pets, so we'd recommend getting professional advice before feeding them to your pet. If you think your dog could benefit from eating Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d, why not have a chat with your vet?

What it's for
The kidneys do a very important job in your dog's body. They take waste out of the bloodstream and manage fluid levels. As soon as you notice symptoms of kidney disease, such as thirstiness, peeing a lot, losing weight, really bad breath, being sick, runny diarrhoea, sore mouth, tiredness, a dull coat and depression, you need to take them straight to the vet. Even if they don't have kidney disease, these symptoms can be signs of other nasty problems. This is really important if your dog is seven years or older, as dogs of this age are more likely to develop problems with their kidneys.
Eating properly can help to slow down the disease. Your dog needs to eat less protein, phosphorus and salt. No more human food! Especially not doggy favourites like hard cheese, ham and peanut butter (these are really high in those minerals).

Hills Science diet renalPurchased for my elderly greyhound who has kidney disease. She eats it happily and her kidney disease is stable. Good value.
Does what it says on the tinThis was prescribed by my vet for my 13 year old Labrador. She eats it with no problem and has put on some weight since eating it. I have always kept her at the correct weight but the vet tells me that given her kidney problem it would be good to put a little extra weight on her. The good thing apparently is that she is eating it because even labradors can go off their food. Perhaps it helps that I have a second dog so she knows if she leaves it the other dog will eat it. There has been a marked improvement in her health, long walks are out but she is fine on gentle walks and can be quite sprightly, the main thing is she is happy and can get about easily. There has been a marked improvement in the smell from her breath. In summary, it is great if your dog will eat it.
Good service, good pricesThe prices are so much cheaper than the vets and the delivery is prompt
