Product details

The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap Connect uses your cat’s existing microchip like an electronic door key to allow them to come and go and keep unwanted animals out of your home. It can be controlled on your phone wherever you are using the SureFlap app and hub..

The included hub allows you to control your cat flap on the go. It is connected to your home router with the included Ethernet cable and gives you wireless control. You can receive notifications when your cat leaves or enters the home and lock or unlock the cat flap via time scheduling or manually. It offers alerts for when a neighbourhood pet tries to access your home and it provides insights into your cat’s behaviour. You can see how long they spend outside of the home and spot any abnormalities. Thanks to DualScan technology, you can also set different permissions for different cats. To use the hub, you are required to have iOs9 or later or Android 4.4 or later.

Key features

  • Reads your cat’s existing microchip to open the door
  • DualScan technology allows you to set different permissions for up to 32 cats
  • Catflap requires 4 x AA batteries (provide 6 months plus battery life)
  • Hub is included and connects to your router (mains powered)
  • Control your cat flap from anywhere in the world
  • Receive notifications when your cat enters and leaves the home
  • Lock or unlock the cat flap, change the curfew times at anytime
  • Gain insights into your cat’s behaviour and how long they spend outside of the home
  • App requires iOS9 or Android 4.4 or later
  • Can be accessed on a PC. Requires latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari
  • Receive intruder alerts if a cat that isn’t registered tried to enter.

To mount the cat flap into a glass door, you will need to use the Sureflap Mounting Adapter. If you have a thick wall, you can use the Sureflap Tunnel Extender to give the cat flap more width.

Additional Information

The presence of a metal plate in an installation location can influence the performance of the Microchip Cat Flap, reducing the range of the microchip reader. This includes the following:

  • Metal skin doors
  • Security doors
  • Metal garage doors
  • UPVC coated metal doors
  • Metal frames around a wall installation

For most situations you will not notice anything, as the read range will still be sufficient for the majority of microchips. However, if you experience intermittent operation or failure to open for your cat, first check for the presence of a metal plate in your installed location.
Note: UPVC coated metal doors often look the same as standard UPVC doors and you may need to look carefully where the panel has been cut. If a metal plate is confirmed, follow the instructions below for improved read range.

If there is metal present, you will need to cut a larger hole in your door, leaving a gap of 2-3cm (1-1.2”) between the tunnel of the cat flap and the metal in your door. To begin with, trace around the outer edge of the back frame as a size guide. Now mark your cutting line 1cm (0.3”) inside the line you have traced around the back frame, leaving the screw holes in place. Cut this hole and reinstall the cat flap.

If you still experience intermittent operation you will need to increase the size of the hole again, in this case you will require the cat flap mounting adaptor.

Once you have the mounting adaptor, trace around the circumference of the mounting adaptor as a guide. Now mark a circle approximately 2cm inside the line from the mounting adaptor, again leaving the indentations for the screw holes. Cut this hole and then reinstall the cat flap again. This will extend the read range further and should resolve any issues with mounting in a metal door.

  • So near yet so far
This is nice don't get me wrong and for smaller cats it's fine. My tabby is a little overweight at just under 5kg, and she struggles to get her rear end through as she hasn't the room to bend her legs. Shes getting there and on a diet but she also doesn't always get read. This I believe is because her chip has moved, as she has the same issue with the Surefeeder where she needs to get right inside before it recognises her. One of the biggest disappointments though is the fact I can't restrict only one cat's access. My black cat has to go to the vet more often due to a heart condition, and I wanted to be able to lock the flap for her only when I needed to keep her in, but that seems impossible in the app, and the only way I can find is to clear the memory and set her as indoors only each time. This is so wrong in my book, as surely that could easily be set by the app. Such a small thing is such a let down and ruins what would have been a great product.

  • Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap Connect with Hub
This is a beautiful cat door with a lovely app giving interesting information. BUT it does have a design fault, and it's a BIG one. I have 2 cats, with one it works perfectly. The other cat is a 5lb long-haired one, the sensor picks her coming in beautifully, but doesn't always pick her up going out, or it takes too long. The sensors are clearly not at the right angle and/or the span is not great enough. We have discussed this with Sureflap, and even tried a replacement door, but with no luck. She then gets bored if it doesn't work straightaway and we have to keep her there until it does pick up her chip. I am not sure she is ever going to master this on her own, so my dreams of using this and tracking them when we are away is a pipe dream!! BE WARNED!!
