Product details

Ipakitine is a dietetic complementary feeding stuff for the support of renal function in cases of chronic renal insufficiency in cats and dogs.

Numerous studies have shown the benefits of phosphate reduction in cats and dogs suffering from kidney failure and it is now widely accepted that there is a direct link between the length and quality of life of a cat or dog with kidney failure and the amount of phosphates they get through their food.

The ingredients in Ipakitine act as phosphate binding agents and lower the absorption of phosphates from the intestines. Thus, in respect of phosphate restriction they can mimic or enhance the effects of a phosphate restricted food. There is also a reduction in the absorption of some uraemic toxins that can affect normal kidney function. Through this double action, Ipakitine supports normal kidney function.

Directions:
1g per 5kg body weight twice daily, mixed with food, for up to 6 months initially.

One level scoop measures 1g of powder. It is recommended that a check up is performed every 6 months. Administration can be life-long. Allow free access to fresh water during administration.

  • Beneficial for kidney disease in dogs
Our Jack Russell is 12 years old and has kidney disease. After a week on dialysis the vet prescribed this but also prepared us to take her home to say goodbye. That was 4 months ago and she is still going strong as she has this powder in her food as per the instructions. Initially we mixed it in as she can be fussy but now it is just put on top of her normal food and she eats it no problem. The bulk pot is very good value for money.

  • Cat with kidney disease.
I take the measured amount of powder and mix it with 5ml water. I use a syringe to give it to him oral and he takes it with no fuss. That way I am assured he had his meds.

  • they will eat it ...prefer powder to a pill anyday.
my cat was prescribed this by her vet. my reading on here what is was i then read the reviews and have some advice for others like me. i too, mixed it in her just a little food but i didn't know if she'd actually had the food with the powder on. my solution for others who experience the same.. buy some cat oralade, mix the powder into a little of that and they will drink it all up. they've had their medicine and u know they have. oralade is roast chicken flavour and cats will drink it.
